Rokkerz in Dokkerz
"Where Mullets & Motor Sport meet... Somewhere in 1987."
What's new... where have we been & where are we headed?

August 2007
After the Rose City Classic HPDE/AutoX day, Jim & Andy become crazy.

Early 2008
An article in Grassroots Motorsports details a very strange new automotive "race" of crap cans... Ohhh sounds cool! Later, our prospective team is announced. We wait for a West Coast race/venue for logistical reasons. Waiting waiting...
On our part, no race or car has been located... Just the dream baby.

December 2008
All team members have been accounted for. It's official. Money is changing hands (all in very small bills, of course).

January 2009
Car is located. A beauty of a car, indeed. Asking price is $500, we play hardball, we get the car for less. A tiny 4 cylinder engine... Well, at least it fires up. We immediately have buyer's remorse. Car has a name "Thee Blew Flame."

February 2009
Deconstruction of "thee blew flame" resumes. To date, the car has lost over 400 pounds. What the hell Detroit? Why so heavy?

March 2009
We finally got the rollcage in, aluminum seat & safety gear all installed and tidy for Team Continental Road Racing School at PIR.
The car completed a total of a staggering 8 laps. High Hat reports the vehicle handles well, brakes well and has relatively decent manners. Sadly, we were unable to figure out our fuel delivery system. From stuttering, stalling, open flames shooting from the car, and massive over-heating we learned a lot about the car... So much more work needs to be done before the end of May.

April 2009
Final Month! Fuel delivery still seems to elude our meager efforts. As it turns out, we all still (oddly enough) have day jobs and families to support. The O2 sensor & fuel injection is priority one for the final stretch. The new cooling system is being installed, exhaust will be tacked and completed. Safety gear & cages are near completion. Logistics are becoming solidified daily.
Another huge "Thank you" goes out to Bob at Bobs Mustang in Portland OR. Your support and sage advice has been absolutely appreciated! If you have a need for a Mustang or specialty Ford, they get our nod of approval: www.bobsfords.com

May 2009
With only two weeks left, the team decides to take the car out for an unsanctioned series of "hot laps" at a secret undisclosed/skunkworks test site. The result: The engine, transmission, steering & suspension all get an adequate/positive "pass" grade. The brakes, pillowy soft clutch & slight oil leak require immediate attention.
Team also decides to take the Flame' to a professional cage builder to get it finally tacked in. What we find later is the biggest set-back of the whole season... The cage isn't "official" and will most likely not pass tech inspection. Damn, now with less than two weeks to go, the team is forced to leave the car at the cage builders shop. Our old cage is going to be removed and an entirely new, custom built cage will be going in to take its place. This new cage will pass tech inspection but... Will require the care stay at the shop for one week. This postpones, brakes, clutch, paint & seat install by one precious week.
STAY TUNED!
5-14-2009: The cage was completed & is absolutely stunning (as far as cages go, anyway). Pictures & info in the "Photos" section.
5-17-2009: Speaking of paint, David sent a batch of Atomic Orange & Satin Black... The flame was repainted Orange with Black stripe to best replicate a 1970 Boss 429 Mustang. But.... The difference will be about 300hp. Look for the "LOSS 2.3" see below
5-20-2009: A new page on the website is up titled "Our Support" to thank all the individuals & businesses crazy enough to lend any type of support to us. Thanks!
5-21-2009 to 5-24-2009: "Goin' For Brokken" 24 hour of LeMons
